Artist Statment

Memories and their constant fluctuation have always been fascinating to me. Shared experiences are perceived differently, even the same event takes on new significance as time moves on. Re-creating images and stories on three dimensional ceramic surfaces allows moments to suspend and contort, frozen yet fluid. Using photographs and my own recollection of events as reference, I preserve my interpretations. Colloquial moments and fleeting feelings are represented in the decoration of familiar vessels. In those objects arises a familiarity that invites recognition and emotional commitment from the viewer. My goal is to create vessels and objects that tell stories of the past while still offering possibilities for the future.
